Chess.com serves hundreds of millions of players. At that scale, every feature is a distributed-systems problem first and a feature second.

I built multiple production microservices from scratch: Awards, Bots, Friends and Friend Requests, Activity Feed, Streaks (the social platform of the site), plus a Deep Link platform that replaced Firebase Dynamic Links.

Underneath it all: reactive Java on Spring WebFlux, Kafka event pipelines, and heavy database work across MySQL, ScyllaDB, MongoDB, Redis, and ClickHouse, alongside developer tooling and self-service Kubernetes deployments that made other teams ship faster too.
